Canada Visitor Visa Overview

Purpose: A Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) is required for foreign nationals visiting Canada for leisure, family reunions, or short business trips. It is affixed to the passport by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and verifies eligibility for entry into Canada.

Single Entry vs. Multiple Entry Visa

Single Entry Visa:
  • Allows entry to Canada only once.
  • Suitable for specific circumstances such as:
  • Official visits (with fee exemption).
  • Participation in one-time special events.
  • Compliance with country-specific procedures.
  • After leaving Canada, a new visa is needed for re-entry.
Multiple Entry Visa:
  • Permits multiple visits to Canada during the visa's validity.
  • Each visit can last up to six months.
  • Valid for up to 10 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
  • Foreign nationals must enter Canada by the visa's expiration date.
Application Process
  • Applicants are automatically considered for a multiple-entry visa by IRCC.
  • The type of visa issued depends on individual circumstances.
Fees
  • Individual Application: CAD 100.
  • Family Application (applied together): CAD 500.
