According to Immigration Minister Marc Miller, the two caregiver pilot programs for immigration to Canada, the Home Child Care Provider (HCCP) and the Home Support Worker (HSW) pilots, are ending this month and will be replaced by two new caregiver pilot programs.
The minister of immigration is also making indications that the pilot programs for caregiver immigration may soon become permanent.
“Our programs need to reflect caregivers’ invaluable contributions, as they play a critical role in supporting Canadian families,” stated Miller.
“These two new pilots will not only enhance support for caregivers but also give families the high-quality care they need as we endeavor to establish a permanent caregivers program.”
Applicants who meet the following requirements and are interested in working in Canada’s home care industry may apply under these new pilot programs:
A minimum Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) level 4 competency in either English or French
Degree of education equivalent to a high school diploma in Canada
possess recent, relevant work experience
have been offered a full-time position in home care
A first-generation limit on citizenship by descent was added to the Citizenship Act by legislative changes made in 2009. This implies that parents who are citizens of Canada may grant citizenship to their kid who was born outside of the country if they were naturalized or born in Canada before the child was born.
The most recent Quebec Arrima draw, held on April 11, 2024, issued out 1,036 invitations to apply for permanent residency (PR) through the Regular Skilled Worker Program.
The Minister of Immigration, Francization, and Integration (MIFI) announced the Quebec Arrima draw on April 23, 2024.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has declared that, as of April 30, 2024, all applications for permanent residency in Canada will cost higher immigration fees.
Since 2020, the IRCC has raised immigration costs every two years; the current price hike is larger than the one from 2022.
The fees increased by a relatively small amount, to approximately 3%, in April 2022. The new rates, which take effect on April 30, 2024, are almost 12–13% higher.
The new rate is based on the Consumer Price Index’s cumulative percentage rise over the two preceding years (2022 and 2023), as reported by Statistics Canada, and is rounded to the closest five dollars.
All applicants for permanent residence are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, with the exception of dependent children and protected individuals.
Under certain circumstances, principal applicants in the categories of “humanitarian and compassionate” and “public policy” are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee.
Family members cannot apply for permanent residency on behalf of the “Permit Holder” class. Those falling under this category are required to apply on their own as principal applicants.
